Two quick links on Cognitive Load Theory I've been fielding lots of questions lately about Cognitive Load Theory. Here are two quick links that may be useful. First is an article talking about the practical implications of CLT on the design of learning. The second are some "recent" (as of 2003) developments regarding CLT. Happy reading! Update: I clarified the second...

Practical advice on kids and Android app development After hearing about my students' success developing an Android app, I've gotten several emails asking for more details as to how I practically worked with my kids. Publishing an App Inventor app to the Android Market As I mentioned earlier, my students and I published an Android app to the Android Market. See those links for more information on the background. Slideshare makes it into Businessweek, and SO DID I!!

Category : General

This might not seem like much, but it’s a lot of fun for me and my kids, and I wanted to share it with you!

First, forgive the cross posting, but this is too fun.

Business Week wrote about SlideShare, my favorite online slide sharing site. I use it to host all my presentations and then embed them easily into our class Moodle. Seeing as I teach two content areas, this is helpful for my kids to keep up with where we are in class.

In the business week article the author mentions a slide presentation called “Let’s Learn Colors“, which is mine! I did it!! Yay!

The quote that stuck out at me the most was this one…

It will hardly grab as many eyeballs as YouTube, but corporate firewalls won?t block the likes of ?Let?s Learn Colors.?

Which is almost funny, because when I tried plain ol’ www.slideshare.net, it was blocked.

Sigh.

Oh well, this was really fun for me! Thanks for sharing it with me!

Update: To avoid paying the businessweek subscription, the slideshare guys took a snapshot.

Wow, cool! Looks like you’re moving up in the world, Chris!

Congrats Chris! Nothing like having your work mentioned in a nationally published magazine :) Although, that sets the bar pretty high for your students now.
