Two quick links on Cognitive Load Theory I've been fielding lots of questions lately about Cognitive Load Theory. Here are two quick links that may be useful. First is an article talking about the practical implications of CLT on the design of learning. The second are some "recent" (as of 2003) developments regarding CLT. Happy reading! Update: I clarified the second...

Practical advice on kids and Android app development After hearing about my students' success developing an Android app, I've gotten several emails asking for more details as to how I practically worked with my kids. Publishing an App Inventor app to the Android Market As I mentioned earlier, my students and I published an Android app to the Android Market. See those links for more information on the background. Online book/dissertation organizer?

Category : Grad School

I am thinking ahead to the day when I decide to write a book, which will probably come after I finish my doctorate in a few years.

What I want to know is, is there a site that lends itself to the organizing process of writing a lengthy work? I like the idea of online simply because of the sheer convenience.

I will begin with Google Docs, as it’s the obvious choice. Is there something else out there of which I am unaware?

The zoho suite is supposed to be very good. Don’t use it but it is an alternative with many possibilities. http://www.zoho.com

After all the time you posted this, you probably are no longer thinking of this issue.

Nevertheless, if an online source for writing isn’t vital, a good software package is Writer’s Blocks.
A few years ago I sampled a few and at that time, this seemed to offer the best balance of features.

I’d use this as a starting place, as odds are high better products may have come on the market since then.

Nothing personal against Google Documents, but there is something to be said about having your intellectual property not fully under your control.
