Nevertheless, if an online source for writing isn&#039;t vital, a good software package is Writer&#039;s Blocks.
A few years ago I sampled a few and at that time, this seemed to offer the best balance of features.  

I&#039;d use this as a starting place, as odds are high better products may have come on the market since then.

Nothing personal against Google Documents, but there is something to be said about having your intellectual property not fully under your control.</description>
