Two quick links on Cognitive Load Theory I've been fielding lots of questions lately about Cognitive Load Theory. Here are two quick links that may be useful. First is an article talking about the practical implications of CLT on the design of learning. The second are some "recent" (as of 2003) developments regarding CLT. Happy reading! Update: I clarified the second...

Practical advice on kids and Android app development After hearing about my students' success developing an Android app, I've gotten several emails asking for more details as to how I practically worked with my kids. Here are some pointers that I offered to the first person that emailed me, perhaps they are of some use to you. Please note that your mileage may vary. It's ok to not be...

Publishing an App Inventor app to the Android Market As I mentioned earlier, my students and I published an Android app to the Android Market. See those links for more information on the background. Mac Classic as a doorstop

Category : General

This is just a shame. I was walking through a building on my University’s campus and I heard a faint voice calling for help. It was a voice I haven’t heard in many, many years. It was a sad little Mac Classic being defamed by use as a doorstop. What once was a convenient all-in-one design for its computing power has turned into a convenient all-in-one doorstop design.

Sad, just sad.

I tried to rescue the little fella, but folks looked at me like I was a little nuts while I was even taking this picture. I’ve resigned myself to taking him pictures of Lisa to keep him company and sneaking in some nourishment, like photos of the new chubby nano. That seems to make him happy and offers a newfound sense of purpose.

Turn it into a fish tank!

You won’t believe this… GMTA

Cheers,

Looks like my code got stripped out on the comment above…

It possibly says something that they didn’t have the heart to throw the little box away. I still have my original SE30 sitting on the shelf next to my desk. I’m pretty sure it will start but I haven’t tried it quite a while.

The picture took me back – I wrote my first CV on a Classic! Well worth saving… and not as a fish tank!

Aww! I think we have two classics and an SE at my dad’s house! I remember at one point in my childhood having 13 macs and all my friends would make fun of me because they all used PCs. I saw my first fish tank and the mac store in London, ON. This is the first doorstop I’ve seen. I want to play the old Sim City on the SE… so good.
