The trouble with contextual ads

Date November 24, 2007

I was over at Miguel’s blog reading about empanadas when I decided to leave a comment. I’ve always been a bit frustrated about Miguel’s use of Haloscan, but I survive.

Anyway, as I was leaving a comment about his empanada recipe I noticed the contextual ads above. Sheesh. I’m not losing weight eating empanadas!

I have bigger problems w/ contextual ads — it almost killed flat classroom — I cannot risk the ads that are placed. I do not have a problem w/ recommending specific products like through an amazon program (as I did last week), however, I will not do contextual ads. I’m in this to make a difference and although I’d like to make money too — I cannot do anything that would sacrifice my own reputation or name. And I will not have my name on something that I don’t personally approve of.

Many bloggers don’t see aproblem w/ Google Adsense, but like you, I do.
