Installation finished smoothly and the Notebook software runs without any problems.

Concerning the panel I do not know since I do not use it. I am using a Bamboo Tablet for pen input in combination with the notebook software - nothing else. In summary I reckon that the above fix was probably much easier than I thought (I have not been able to install for months...), however, the conceptual change is somewhat hidden - even with plenty of linux experience.

Also, I would liek to outline that "autopackage is no longer developed" and I am curious what kind of installer the next SmartBoard release for Linux will use (if they will ever release another one...).

After having run into the glibc issue AGAIN, here is a hack to work around:

as root edit the file /usr/share/autopackage/apkg-script-utils
Insert the following code snippet:
        trace passed
        outputTestPass

        popOptE;
        return 0

right AFTER the part
function requireLibC() {
    pushOptE; set +e;
    if [[ "$@" == "" ]]; then return 0; fi; # we may be called with no arguments from backend.template, if no binaries are in the package
    outputTest "$intl_CHECKING_FOR_GLIBC_SYMBOL_VERSIONS"
    trace looking for $@
    local r

Then the GLIBC test is set to TRUE and you can move on. This was the solution for me. FINALLY. What a hack...

Good luck to all of you.

There's no point installing it on 64bits. Even if you can complete the installation, Notebook can't be loaded due to incompatible library files, e.g., libgmp.so.
